Yes, I know that’s hard. It's a lot of work. What can I say, that’s life. Besides, look on the bright side: You get to do what you want and you get to do it your way. There’s just one catch. You’ve got to start somewhere. Ideas and opportunities don’t just materialize out of thin air.

The only way I know to get started is by learning a marketable skill and getting to work. In my experience, that’s where the ideas, opportunities, partners, and finances always seem to come from. Sure, it also takes an enormous amount of hard work, but that just comes with the territory.

If you want to do entrepreneurship right, here are eight stories you’ve probably never heard about companies you’ve most definitely heard of.

How We Can Help You

Business Planning

What is the most important aspect of business planning?

As I always say, the world is full of infinite possibilities and countless opportunities, but your life and career are finite, meaning you have limited time to find what you’re searching for and make your mark on the world. This is your time. It’s limited so don’t waste it. Find something you like to do and just do it. That’s how real entrepreneurs always start.

Potter's Wheel

Definition of potter's wheel. : a usually horizontal disk revolving on a vertical spindle and carrying the clay being shaped by a potter.

Pinching by Hand

A hand with thumb and index finger in close proximity. Used to suggest that something is small, or to gesture a small amount.

It's almost always used by the person who would perform/did perform the service(for example, "Let me know if/how I can be of service", "Glad I could be ofservice") rather than the person receiving it. It's probably most often used in offers of assistance ("How can I be of service?").

Slab Making

For small pots, you can press out slabs. Compress a lump of clay into a ball about 2 inches in diameter. Using your palms, flatten the ball as much and as evenly as possible. Place the clay pancake on a canvas-covered work surface.

Here are six things I do to be more strategic when offering help:

  1. Find out what's valuable to him. ...

  2. Be transparent with any benefit or agenda. ...

  3. Ask more questions before you volunteer your help. ...

  4. Offer alternative resources besides your service. ...

  5. Deliver on what you promise. ...

  6. Surround yourself with helpful people.
